HOW TO SUPERVISE FOUNDATION WORK

Image
How to check the foundation of a house? A good and solid foundation is the core of any building structure, without which no building will be able to stand firm. Compromised foundation and building quality will be undermined if site supervisors do not adhere to the stipulated guidelines lay down by the authorities. Foundations must have a rigid base in order to fully support the effective load of the building. Come let’s check on what to do before the foundation work: One thing you can do before building your home is site visiting. When it comes to your building foundations, soil type could have a dramatic impact on your project.  Never build your building in soft soil area because if the soil is soft it will damage your house in the future. Dig a trench in the ground, until you touch the subsoil. Ensure that the bar bender steel is correctly aligned and does not shift when concrete is poured. When concrete mix is ready remember to poured it immediate to the foundation. Ensur...

HOW TO DO CONCRETE COMPACTION

Image
What are the methods used for concrete compaction? Compaction of concrete is one of the important site operations that together enable the fresh concrete to reach its potential design strength and density by reducing the pores. Compaction is the process which expels entrapped air from freshly placed concrete and packs the aggregate particles together so as to increase the density of concrete. It increases significantly the ultimate strength of concrete and enhances the bond with reinforcement. Proper compaction also ensures that the formwork is completely filled. There are two methods of concrete compactions: You can do compaction of concrete  by two methods, hand compaction and mechanical compaction. Hand compaction: Rodding is a method of poking concrete with a rod. You can use a steel rod for rodding. Tamping is mainly used for the construction of roof slabs and pavements. Ramming it is not used for the compaction in reinforced concrete works or upper stories flo...

HOW WATER QUALITY IMPACTS THE CONCRETE MIX

Image
How does water affect concrete? Concrete is a composite construction material made up of water, cement and aggregates . The quality of water in the concrete mix play a vital role on the strength of the concrete. Some water which have adverse effects on hardened concrete sometimes may not be harmless or even beneficial during mixing. Water to be used during concrete mix: When water comes in contact with cement, they react  chemically and make the concrete stronger. Water that is to be used for concrete mix should not be dirty. Dirty water will affect the longevity of the concrete structure in the long run and weakening the concrete, in some cases even retard the setting. Make sure you use good quality or drinking type of water in concrete mixing.  Poor quality of water  can affect the setting, strength and durability of  concrete . Remember that adding the right amount of water to concrete ensures that it is strong enough for its intended applicat...
